| Alcides zodiaca and metataurus are famous in parts of Australia for its large migratory congregations, similar to the monarch butterfly of North America. As a day-flying moth, it is yet another moth that can trick people into believing its a butterfly. Adults will feed on nectar, which sustains them for a time that is longer than most adult moths who usually die in a matter of days. It is a member of the swallowtail moth family Uraniidae, a complex of colourful, diurnal moths, most with tails on their hindwings. |
