| A bright blue butterfly native to South America. It resembles one of the skipper (family Hesperiidae) butterflies, a group whose placement on the scale of Lepidoptera is still unknown; while considered butterflies, members of the family also have many moth-like qualities. However, it is actually a Metalmark (family Riodinidae). Most often seen on the edge of puddles, where it drinks salt with other "puddling" butterflies. |
