Description: |
This is another pine-wood forager that breeds in Canada, mostly around the Great Lakes region. Females and juveniles are virtually impossible to distinguish from the females and juveniles of the Blackpoll Warbler. The Bay-breasted usually has dark legs, absence of any streaking on the breast, and white undertail however. Dendroica (Setophaga) castanea is its scientific name. Castanea refers to the colour bay, a dark brown colour, which can be seen all over the male of this bird. |
