Nerd fact: Theirs more then one super man. The strongest of which is know as golden superman prime. Or, in other words the current superman you know but in the 853rd century. Turns out superman is immortal as long as he has the yellow sun. So he outlived his loved ones on earth, left a superman successor for earth, then left earth to travel the cosmos. Learned a bunch of stuff. Then came back to earth in the 700th century and now lives in the center of the sun. GSP is one of the all time strongest beings ever made by DC comics because, they essentially took superman and turned him into a god... on crack.
